I have atrial fibrillation. After taking Avapro (irbesartan) for the past four years, and metoprolol succinate for the past two, I recently had an a-fib episode where my pulse dropped quite low when I was given the cardizem and it took an overnight hospitalization to get stabilized. i have just had Flecainide and Eliquis prescribed to help prevent further episodes and to thin my blood. Today I read that Xarelto has been found to be dangerous, and I wonder if these drugs might be the next on the list to be found to create more harm than good. While I am overweight, my doctor says that losing weight is a great idea but will not alter the a-fib aspect of my problem, I am wondering if a low sodium diet, meditation and more exercise ( I have been helping my daughter who is a single mom take care of her son since he was born 2+ years ago while also holding down my teaching job as a college professor. I have been under great stress) and letting go of some of my parenting duties would help. I am 67 years old. What can you advise? Thank you so much.
