Is It Safe To Take Toprol XL For Rapid And Skipped Heart Beats?

I have experienced occasional rapid and skipped heart beats for over 40 years now. I have been taking Toprol XL 100 MG for hypertension for almost 20 years and this has helped to reduce incidence of this to very rare, maybe once per month. Over the past 2 weeks I am experiencing these episodes nightly, sometimes for 5-10 minutes at a time. They have even awoken me from sleep. No pain, no dizziness, but want to move my bowels often afterward. Is an ER visit in order or f/u with PCP. SCAREY. But not grossly interfering with day to day. Thanks, Steve Z

HI
Well come to HCM
Pure condition of escape heart beat can only known with the help of EKG and there is no specific symptoms one can feel, if you do have something like this then this could be something else and not heart related, the best way to rule out this is get done the EKG test, this would rule out this, take care.
