Is It Safe To Take Thyrowel Along With Thyronorm For High TSH?

My son is 20 yrs old and he was diagnosed with high TSH.about 25. He was advised for thyronorm 50 mg. He got it tested again and he got TSH 14.59. He is regularly taking Thyronorm 50mg. Now doctor has advised him Thyrowel along with thyronorm and has also asked him to increase the thyronorm to 75mg. Kindly advise is it safe to take both the medicines at the same time or we can skip thyrowel and continue with Thyronorm 50mg and take care by doing regular excercises

I appreciate your concern for your beloved son's health problem.

Nothing to worry about it.

It is safe to take Thyrowel along with Thyronorm for the treatment of hypothyroidism.

Thyrowel is a nutritional supplement containing vitamins (B12, Folic acid) essential trace elements (Iron, Selenium, Zinc) and essential aminoacid Tyrosine. This is just a health supplement which is given for thyroid patients.

Patients with hypothyroidism should keep their TSH level between 0.45 and 4.12 mIU/L while taking Thyronorm. This is the normal recommended range for TSH while taking treatment for hypothyroidism.

Since initially your son's TSH was very high hence the dosage of Thyronorm was increased to 75 mcg/day from 50 mcg/day.

In view of the explanation given above the combination of Thyronorm and Thyrowel is safe and hence kindly adhere to the prescribed medications. However, the TSH level should be repeated after 6-8 weeks to check the response and its range.
