Is It Safe To Take Sudafed Decongestant Capsules For Cold?

I have caught my first cold for about three years. It is the sort of cold where I know that it will start to give me ear problems due to the constant blowing of my nose. I went to the chemist this am to buy some Sudafed decongestant capsules but was told that because I tale a 10mg Ramapril tablet daily it would not be safe to take the Sudafed. Is this information really correct?
Thank you
