General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I understand your concern.
Postinor is an emergency contraceptive, it is to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. ( earlier the better. It's a high does hormonal preparation, prevents pregnancy.
Considering your genetic problem, your decision of IVF is correct. To prevent natural pregnancy, you can take Postinor. BUT it will disturb your menstrual cycle & endometrial lining too ( which matters in transfer of embryo while IVF treatment.)for a couple of months. So you have to inform about taking the drug to your doctor ,so as to change the regime for IVF.
Thanks.
