Is It Safe To Take Pexep Insted Of Betacap For Anxiety?

sir I am using betacap 20 and petril for treating anxiety priscribed by a psysicatrist. I am not feeling any major side effect. Now the another neurologist prescribed me to take PEXEP CR-12.5 and petril. kindly let me know whet is common and what is the difference between are the side effect of PEXEP. thanks NMN

I can understand your concern.

Paxep CR is Paroxetine (belongs to SSRI group).
Commonly used in the treatment of depression, panic disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders and a number of other psychiatric conditions.

When the drug is started for first few days individuals may develop restlessness, anxiety, insomnia etc symptoms. Please consult your psychiatrist if you develop any symptoms while on this drug.

On long term the drug is considered to be safe and is free of side effect but in high doses it may cause delayed ejaculation, poor orgasm etc as side effects.

It may also affect the sperm quality and found to reduce the counts of motile sperms.

Whereas Betacap (Beta blocker) & Petril (benzodiazepine) are also effective in the treatment of anxiety but their use may result in certain side effects like slow heartbeats, cold clammy skin, fatigue, impotency (as in case of Betacap) or habit forming, memory & judgement impairment (as in case of Petril).
