General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. The main problem with PCOD is insulin resistance. It can also cause irregular periods and anovulation. Loosing 10 percent of body weight is helpful to restore a normal cycle and ovulation. Metformin is helpful in decreasing insulin resistance, decreasing weight and restoring ovulation. It is not an addictive drug. It is well tolerated also. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
