Is It Safe To Take Gestin To Manage IUGR And Polyhydramanios During Pregnancy?
hi doc i m in my 31st week of pregnancy. My fundal height did not increased after my last visit at 28 month. It is still 28 so doc suggested me for ultrasound. Aa per my scan i m having mild IUGR & poly hydramanios with AFI 20. Doc suggested me to two take Gestin (5 mg) two times in morning & two times in evening. Please advise me the use & side effects of this tablet. Also suggest me how to cope with IUGR & Polyhydramanios. Can these be managed ???????

Gestin is used to help prevent miscarriage and recurring pregnancy loss, and may also be used to help prevent premature labour.
Side effects of Gestin are not much serious which includes
1.Diarrhoea
2.Drowsiness
3.Acne etc. So i will advice you to continue it
And to cope up with IUGR and polyhydramanios
Do Careful monitoring of a fetus, using tests such as ultrasound, Doppler flow, and fetal monitoring.
Although it is not possible to reverse IUGR, the following may help slow or minimize the effects by
Improving nutrition
Bed rest. Whether in the hospital or at home, bed rest may help improve circulation to the fetus.
Salt Restriction as you are having polyhydramanios and Take Antacids if you are having heartburn. Hope i have given satisfactory answers to your questions. Feel free to ask if you have any other query
