Is It Safe To Take Bystolic With Adderall?

I have been taking Adderall for my severe ADD for many years now (60 mg XR in the AM). My blood pressure has always been low; however, for the past two months, it has been very high (avg 150/105). I have heard that hypertension is the silent killer but I don t know why; I have been feeling sick every day with dizziness, nausea, and sometimes headache or chest pains. I am wondering if it is safe to take Bystolic with Adderall, and if so, will the beta-blocker decrease the effectiveness of the Adderall? Thank you kindly for addressing my concerns.

Hi & Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concern.

Yes, it is safe to take Bystolic with Adderall.

Bystolic (Nebivolol) is a beta-blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It affects the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins) and has no harmful interaction when taken along with Adderall (Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine).

'Silent killer disease' is disease that produces minimum or no symptoms in the early stages and are capable of causing death if not treated. Hypertension is one such example of the disease.

Beside medications you should have certain lifestyle modifications such as:
Reducing salt intake; consuming less than 5 grams of salt per day from all sources.
Decreasing saturated and total fat intake, such as by eating low-fat foods.
Eating five servings of fruit and vegetables every day.
Doing regular physical activity for at least 30 minutes each day.
Avoiding alcohol, stress, smoking and second hand smoke.

Wishing you best of your health....
