Is It Safe To Take Aspirin For Skin Discolouratrion And Swelling In Hands?

I hit my hand on a wooden cabinet a week ago. It is very bruised and I have large veins and it was raised the first day. I applied ice and swelling went down. However, it is still black and blue and raised a tiny bit. Should I worry about this. I was planning to have a doctor look at it on Thursday. I take a small dosage of asprin every night at the suggestion of my doctor. Would this cause this ugly bruising? Thanks for your help.

Hello. Good day. Thanks for writing to HCM. I am Dr Praveen and I will be answering your query today.

Yes. The bruising can be aaggravated with aspirin use. It would be advisable to withhold it for 5 days or so. Continue the ice pack use. It should settle down. Generally it takes about 2-3 wks and its self resolving.

Wishing you good health.
Warm regards.
