Is It Safe To Take Amlodipine And Propranolol For Hypertension?

Hi Dr. My mother got hypertensio although she use amlodipin 10 /day but her blood pressure still 200Hmg/100Hmg then she use propranolol 40mg at the same time after 20 minutes it droplease to 130Hmg/80Hmg ! So two of this anti-hypertension can make harmful sideffect to human health or not dear Dr please answers me !

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

Yes both Amlodipine and Propranolol can be taken togethar for hypertension. There is no interaction except both these can decrease blood pressure much stronger together.
As you mentioned your mother took 40 mg propanolol which is very high dosage & such high dosage is not rcommended on daily basis.
I would rather suggest you to take other combination like amlodipine & hydrochlorathiazide / amylodipine & atenolol. This would be better to use for long term basis.
