Is It Safe To Have Xanax For Heart Arrhythmias?

hello, my 55 year old fit, trim boyfriend (5 8 155 lbs) has many allergies, some of which set off pretty serious heart arrythmias. Once I caught it at a time we could go to urgent care where they did an ekg and confirmed definitely heart arrhythmia, with prescription for cardiologist eval. Bob hasn t made it to cardiologist yet (we will) seems to be related to eating any pork with nitrites (he has asthma at times, clear cut nut and dairy allergy with hives and mouth sores. The heart arrhythmias seem related to something about beef (never eats now) pork and nitrites. He is on no medication, physically fit cyclist at times and tennis player, Question: We are on vacation in Hawaii and he is having typical night (1-3 out of every 3 monte) of heart arrythmias. I (his partner) can easily feel it through chest and pulse. Question then is would he benefit from .5 mg xanax since I have some and this creates cycle of anxiety? We don t want anything to hurt his heart.

Hello
Welcome here.
I can understand your concerns.

Xanax 0.5mg is safe and has no harmful effects on heart when given on SOS basis.

Some quick ways to control palpitations are
Coughing
Or
Drinking a glass of chilled water
Or
Deep inspiration and exhaling with pursed lips.

Do visit a cardiologist once your holidays are over.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
