Hi Doctor, I have been using acitrom 4mg since last one year. I had Deep Vein Thormbosis. I have stopped monitering my INR few days back since it was stable around 3 from many days. General Surgeon 's  Response
If you have overdose of Acitrom it can lead to spontaneous bleeding from any site like blood in urine, cough or vomitus or also gum bleeding. If you suffer some minor injury the blood will not clot and you will have severe bleeding. It is always advisable to monitor Acitrom dose with INR every two weeks to keep it between 2 and 3. If it rises above 4 then Acitrom should be stopped. And yes it can be life threatening also. We usually give Acitrom for 6months for a spontaneous first episode of DVT. Please let me know why you continue Acitrom for over a year. You can contact through 'Fix an appointment' tool. Take care.
