Is It Safe For Me And My Baby To Have Dexamethasone Injections During 9 Month Pregnancy ?

hi i am nine moth pregnant and my due date is 10th june amd my doctor suggested me dexamethasone injections for 2 days plz tell me is it safe for me and for my baby?

Hi Yasmeen, Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum.
Kindly don't worry about the Dexamethasone Injections as they will not be harmful to you or your Baby. It would have been better if you had told me, what your Doctor has reported to you regarding your Baby's lung maturity. Since you are nearing your Due date, you doctor wants to speed up your baby's lung maturity if it has not developed upto the mark till date according to recent scan. If you deliver a baby without lungs being matured, your baby may land up in NICU. So, don't panic, dexamethasone will speed up the lung growth before your due date, so that you deliver a healthy baby. Just take it as directed by your Doctor and go for regular follow up.
