Is It Possible To Get False Positive HPT Result?

Hello Dr. Rynne, about 2 weeks ago I took a home pregnancy test and came up as positive. I went to the urgent care the next day to take a urine and blood pregnancy test from a Dr. and it came back as negative?! They told me I wasn t pregnant but I am about 98% sure that I am pregnant, the other 2% is because I want to get a positive result from a professional. My period is about 9 days late, my breasts are super sore and sensitive, I have to pee all the time, and feel super nauseous but have yet to actually throw up. Could my hormone levels be too low to actually come back as positive.

A pregnancy test 9 days late should be positive if you are pregnant.The two results are contradictory and we can not say which one is correct.The signs you present too could be signs of pregnancy or just a psychological manifestation to thinking of being pregnant .I will suggest another pregnancy test be conducted using a kit of different brand(different what you used and what the professional used).False positive and false negative results are possible.Also, the validity of the various test kits should be checked.If you still doubt the results, you may get a pelvic ultrasound to look for a gestational sac.
