My son swallowed a piece of plastic a week ago. He's 9 months old and it was the size of a quarter. He hasnt passed it yet and he's having a hard time pooping which has resulted in an extreme rash because of the little he can get out. Do you think the piece of plastic is lodged in his rectum and should I go to the er?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

In almost all cases the foreign body ingested will be excreted out. Sometimes it could be lodged in the rectum. If the baby is accepting feeds well and there is no distension of abdomen you can wait.
Take a routine appointment with Pediatric Surgeon.
