Is It Possible For Ulcer In Ear To Turn As Herpes?

I went to the doctor today because i had a uncomfortable pain below my ear towards the jaw. He syringed my ear and found an ulcer. He has given me antibiotic drops and bactroban but says if it hasn't healed in a week it could be herpes. It was only one ulcer, is this possible?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
I have gone through your query; and for your kind information herpetic ulcer or vesicle is present with facial paralysis of the same side. The presenting symptom of this disease is often pain deep within the ear. It may be paroxysmal at first but, after an one day, the pain often radiates outward into the pinna and there is a more constant, diffuse and dull neuralgic pain.

For better diagnosis and to rule out the other disease, please consult the ENT specialist.

Thanks
