Is It Okay To Use Fucithalmic Eye Drops For Baby?

Hi - my 10 day old baby girl gas been prescribed fucithalmic eye drops twice a day to treat a buildup of too around her eyes.

Firstly, is it OK to use this on a 10 day old baby?

Secondly, she keeps rubbing her eyes and putting her hand in her mouth. If some of the medicine gets accidentally ingested what should I do?

HI i understand your problem .Let me answer your query one by one
studies have shown fucithalmic eye drops not so safe in children s.
being a eye surgeon i can tel you to use LEVOfloxacin 0.5% eye drops 5 times a day for your baby which is a safe and better drug in children.
kindly show your baby to an eye doctor to rule out CNLDO( nasolacrimal duct obstruction) which is very common cause for watering and also buildup of too around her eyes.
secondly ,If some of the medicine gets accidentally ingested
give baby plenty of water to drink immediately ( salt water is better ) and rush to a near by hospital.
