Is It Normal To Take Some Time For Achieving Penis Erection?

Hi, I'm a 19-year-old male and I have a thing that makes me wonder.
It's about erection, is it normal that the erection is usually not instant and needs some work to be ready for the intercourse itself? Usually the foreplay doesn't need to be long, but sometimes it may take 10-15min to achieve a erection proper for a intercourse. I have been in relationship for 3½months now, is this something that disappears through time?

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. An erection begins in the brain. Physical and/or mental stimulation cause nerves in the brain to send chemical messages to nerves in the penis telling the penile blood vessels to relax so that blood can flow freely into the penis. Once in the penis, high pressure traps the blood within both corpora cavernosa. This causes the penis to expand and sustain an erection.

If the first step takes time, the whole process is delayed. During a relationship, brain perceives the relationship slowly and takes its own time to react. Therefore, there is no need for you to worry.

An erection is reversed when the inflow of blood is stopped and opening outflow channels open, allowing the penis to become soft.
