Is It Normal To Have White Spots On My Tonsils After Taking Antibiotics?

Hi I recently took antibiotics to treat tonsillitis on doctor's recommendation. I will finish the antibiotics course tomorrow and I don't feel as much pain anymore. However, I just noticed there are many white spots on my tonsils. Also, I started having this white-colored liquid that seems similar to mucus. Are these normal?

Thanks!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms white spots on my tonsils after taking antibiotics is due to follicular tonsillitis which means white spots occurs on tonsil along with swelling of lymph nodes. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should maintain oral hygiene. Start taking antibiotics to prevent further spread of infection. Take course of anti-inflammatory medications as well. Do warm saline gargles. You should get it drained if it is causing any pus or infection. Drink plenty of water to re-hydrate yourself. Don't smoke at all as it will exaggerate your symptoms.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
