Is It Normal To Have Headaches And Itching In Breasts After Coming Off Sprintec?
Hi I was on sprintec for over 10 years and just came off last month because we are trying to conceive. I am getting all of these different symptoms that I never had before like, constant headaches, my boobs itch and are sore like I lifted weights. Last night I was not even able to sleep on my stomach cause my boobs hurt so bad. I am also cramping really bad like im about to get my period any second. I was suppose to get my period yesterday and it still hasn t come. Took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. Is this from coming off of sprintec and when should I expect to get my period?
Hello! I read your question carefully and understand your concern. It may be normal to experience these symptoms when stopping hormonal contraceptives. Those drugs have interfered the sexual hormones metabolism all these years, and the iregular periods can be the mos common effect after interrupting the pill. Since breasts are very sensitive to hormonal changes they have increased tenderness and sore. Now that you're off the pill the menstrual cycle will turn to its natural course which include all these symptoms during luteal phase because of the fluctuant hormone levels. Contraceptive keep hormones at almost same levels during all month. It may take some months, in rare cases even years to have normal steady menstrual cycles. I hope i have been of help.
