Is It Normal To Have Flank Pain And Brown Spotting During Pregnancy?

I am 7 weeks pregnant and for the last 4 days I have had left flank pain that started really severe 10/10 but now it is almost completely gone and I had some brown spotting on/ off with it. Now today I just noticed some bright blood with small clots when I wiped. I am really concerned because I was on lisinopril and on pravastatin when I became pregnant.

Thanks for choosing HCM.

Regarding the flank pain and bleeding, unfortunately these are not good signs during pregnancy especially at 7 weeks. This may be related to threatened abortion or missed abortion.

You have been on lisinorpil ad pravastatin. I am not sure if you have been taking them during pregnancy. Drugs of lisinopril group are unfortunately associated with birth defects, though the defects do not occur in every baby and can be detected by sonography.

Other causes of bleeding may be local ones like vaginal or cervical lesions and they do not usually harm the baby.

So I suggest that you see your treating obstetrician and discuss these issues. Meanwhile You must take bed rest, folic acid and hormones like HCG may be needed till 10 weeks on prescription after getting a ultrasound done.
