Is It Normal To Have Dizziness When Diagnosed With Submandibular Salivary Gland Infection?

I was diagnosed with a submandibular salivary gland infection today. I also has a CT of my neck to make sure I didn t have any stones. I had IV contrast with the CT. I have been feeling dizzy and lightheaded since then. It is normal to have the dizziness from this type of infection? Thank you!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have dgone through your question in detail and can very well understand your concern..

As per your complain submandibular salivary gland is one of the major salivary gland and infection in the gland can occur due to some reasons like Poor hygiene conditions, salivary gland stones, smoking, dehydration for long time etc..

Dizziness and lightheadedness after contrast dye CT can be due to side effect of the dye and as the dye will deplete the symptoms will resolve, but in case if you have any other symptoms like rashes, vomiting, vertigo etc you need to immediately consult an Emergency room..

If infection of salivary gland is ruled out along with some other pathology like salivary gland stones removal of the stones along with antibiotics like Augmentin 625 mg and painkillers like Advil if there is pain are to be taken..
Drinking plenty of water is necessary for good salivary flow and prevention of dehydration.
Maintain good oral hygiene, avoid smoking and drinking and take more of citrus foods to stimulate saliva flow..

Hope this information helps and thanks for writing to Healthcare Magic..
