Is It Normal For Children To Have Undescended Testicles?

As a child, (I am 60 now) I had an undescended testicle. I don t think my parents were able to deal with it and in the last few years, I ve come to realize the negative effect it had on me, mainly never developing close relationships/friendships. Am I alone in this? I do believe a child who had parents who dealt with this in a supportive way probably are better adjusted.

Hello,

the testicle may sometimes fail to descend, which may cause fertility issues and a higher risk for testicular cancer and torsion. Sometimes psychological issues may occur but they are not directly caused by the testicle itself. They are rather caused by the psychological impact of the situation and perhaps the preoccupation of the boy and/or the boy's family with his genitals.

This is a condition that could have been repaired much earlier. You can't do anything about that now. You can only try to cope with the psychological consequences and try to socialize more. Perhaps a psychologist would be able to help you with that.

I hope I've helped you clarify the consequences of your condition.
You can contact me again, if you'd like any clarification or further information.

Kind Regards!
