Is It Normal For Geodon To Not Have Any Effect On Some People?

I feel no effect from Geodon. I take it with food, as recommended, to ensure absorption but I can't tell if there are any effects. I take 40mg with breakfast and 80mg with dinner. Is it possible that Geodon might not be metabolized in certain populations? Or am I supposed to feel nothing?

Hi,
Ziprasidone (geodon) is metabolyzed by an enzyme Aldehyde oxidase in your liver cells. The genes encoding this enzyme are not totally mapped, and hence the true reason behind variations in the activity of this enzyme is not totally known.
Taking certain medications may induce this enzyme and help in early excretion of the drug resulting in lesser serum concentration.
you could be having a variant of this enzyme, causing faster excretion of the drug you are taking, a probable reason why you are not feeling the 'effect'.
hope this helped.
