Is It Necessary To Take Isoniazid For Positive PPD And Latent TB?

i have a 13 year old daughter PPD test result was negative in 2012 however her second PPD test result in 2014 became positive(18x20mm) but chest X-ray is negative. Her doctor required her to take Isoniazid for 9 months because she has latent tb. She had a BCG vaccination when she was an infant. Is it necessary to take the treatment? what if the results is false positive?

Hello
Your daughter is a children and diagnosed as patient of "LATENT PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS "so I am writing complete treatment of Latent PTB so that you will understand many things.
--Isoniazide x 6-12 months
Isonizide alone is the preferred regime for latent PTB.
9 months is the optimal time period & should be considered in children , patient with old fibortic lesions on chest Xray.
If compliance is thought to be an issue, 6 months duration may be used in certain cases.
Rifampicin w/ or w/o isoniazide x 4 months.
Rifampicin + pyrazinamide x 2months.
This is one more option but only in severe cases & fatal cases.
In my view result is not false POSITIVE.
Hope this will help you.
