Is It Necessary To Consult ER If The Finger Has Swelling And Dull Throbbing?
I CAUGHT MY PINKY FINGER BETWEEN A DOOR FRAME AND A TABLE I WAS MOVING. IT IS SLIGHTLY SWOLLEN WITH DARK PURPLE BRUISING AROUND THE KNUCKLE. I CAN BEND THE FINGER AS MUCH AS THE SWELLING WILL ALLOW, AND AM ONLY EXPERIENCING SOME DULL THROBBING. SHOULD I GO TO THE ER, OR ICE THE FINGER AND TAPE IT TO THE NEXT ONE?

As you mentioned in the query , there is no chance of any fracture in your finger .
Due to contusion and bruise there develops pain , swelling and movement restriction .
When such patient visit in my clinic I advise them as .
Aceclofenac 200 mg C R twice in day + SERRATIOPEPTIDASE 20 mg twice in day for 3 days .
Complete rest for 5-7 days with ice massage .
Raise the hand above 4 inches with some support.
