Is It Harmful To Be Reimmunised With Yellow Fever Vaccine After 5 Years?

I have a holiday booked to Ghana, for which I need a yellow fever immunisation certificate to enter the country. I had the immunisation 5 years ago, but have lost the certificate, and my doctor cannot issue another without re-immunising me. But the vaccine is supposed to last for 10 years. Is there a risk to my health by getting another shot of the vaccine so soon?

Hi
In yellow fever vaccine booster vaccination is administered after 10 years. Since you have lost the yellow fever immunization certificate so you can get antibody titer estimation done and if titre is high then you need not take another shot and if low you can show it to you doctor and can get another shot. You can also use titre level for getting certificate from doctor. However; Evidence from several studies suggests that yellow fever vaccine immunity persists for at least 30 to 35 years and probably for life.
