Is It Due To Sleep Apnea One Experiences Gasping Of Air While Waking Up?

Sometimes I wake up gasping for air. I ve have sleep apnea, but cannot get use ot the mask. Within 1 to 2 hours I have dry mouth and wake up. I cannot get the mask to fit to my face securely, I lose air through the sides. I was wondering if the nose strips would work?

Greetings,

Waking up breathless is defenitely one of the signs of sleep apnea. Have you tried the cpap devices with built in humidifiers ? They can reduce the dryness. Keeping yourself hydrated can also help. Full face masks produce lesser dryness than nasal cpap devices. If cpap devices are intolerable and weight loss hasn't worked, have you thought about seeking surgical intervention? Nasal strips will most likely fail, considering the pathology in sleep apnea is elsewhere.
