Hello Josh!
Thank you for asking on HCM!
First of all, I recommend you to objectively identify if ectopic beats are present. This is done by a careful medical examination (cardiac auscultation) and better by an ambulatory 24 to 48 hours ECG monitoring.
If ectopic beats are present, then the next step is to rule out any
structural heart disease. This latter is performed by a cardiac
ultrasound.
If you have no structural heart disease, and no complex
arrhythmia results by ambulatory ECG monitoring, then nothing to worry about. Those possible ectopic beats do not pose any dangers to you.
You have to avoid any possible triggering factors, like smoking, alcohol, caffeine, and always perform an escalating physical activity strain.
So, to conclude, I recommend you to visit your doctor for a medical check up (physical exam and some routine blood tests like
complete blood count, glucose,
thyroid hormone levels, etc), and to talk about the recommended diagnostic options mentioned above.
Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings! Dr. iliri
