Is Irregular Usage Of Contraceptive Pills Safe?

Hi, I m tammy, and I am behind 2 pills on my current pack, I lost a pill on week one and have to take the next days, and I got sick during week 2 within an hour of taking it so I took the next days, would it be okay to go 9 days without active pills then start again as normal but have safe sex for the next 7 days I consecutively take the active pills?

Hello Tammy,

I can understand your concern. It would have been easier if you had mentioned which pill you are taking. If you are taking the 21-day pill course, you cannot take 19 and be protected from pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse. The golden rule is to complete 21-day pill course. You can take 2 pills from another pack.

Alternatively, I would advise you to use condom for few days till you start periods of the next month.
