Good day,
Noted your concern. There has been studies showing the liks between Insulin resistance ( Metabolic syndrome) and hypothyroidism. Again, iron deficiency is common in hypothyroidism. It could be partly due to poor absorption of iron from stomach. Celiac disease is common in autoimmune hypothyroidism. Celiac disease can cause vtamin Deficiency and iron deficiency. It is important to find the cause of your iron deficiency. That will answer your question if you have to take iron supplements life long or not ?
Many patents do complain about low mood and other symptoms even while adequately supplemented with thyroxine. It is important to keep TSH levels at around 3. It is also important to rule out other causes of such symptoms other than hypothyroidism.
