Is Inflammation In The Oesophagus A Cause For Concern?
My sister-in-law in England told me she has been diagnosed with inflammation on top of her esophagus and her Dr s are worried that it might be Barratt s Syndrome but they won t have test results for several week s which is the norm in England. Is this something my sister-in-law should be overly worried about?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Juna Luzi's Response
Hi dear! Barret's esophagus is more often diagnosed in people who have suffered for a long time from re flux (coming back) of the acidic fluids of the stomach into esophagus. It is associated with risk for developing esophageal cancer. although the risk is small, it is important to have regular check-ups for precancerous cells, to have only bio food and controlled diet, stay away from alcohol and smoking.
