Is Hysterectomy Advisable For Endometrial Hyperplasia?

After 2.5 months of constant uterine bleeding I had a D&C that showed endometrial hyperplasia w/o atypia. I also have cysts on my left ovary. I know some of my choices are hormone therapy which may or may not be successful, and a hysterectomy. I am also 1 year post heart transplant and take cellcept and prograf for immunesuppression. I really don t want this issue to keep popping up and would prefer to get it over with with a hysterectomy. Any thoughts on how I should proceed?

Hi Mam,
You are well aware of your choices, but as a physician I would suggest that you consult with your doctor regarding the option of surgery with immuno-suppression, this could give a direct gateway to infection. But if you are catered by expert post op care then the only concern would be to retain the ovaries. Usually Hysterectomy previously involved removal of ovaries as well. But since you didn't mention your age, it would always be safe to retain the ovaries.
