Is High Temperature At Head And Neck Suggestive Of Cerebral Malaria?

Dear Doctor, My father(58) has diagnosed P.falciparum infection. He is being treated with artesunate 120mg IV injection two times a day. with Artemisinin+lumefantrine combination tablet once daily along with artemether injection. My father expresses continuous fever ONLY in neck and head. other parts of the body are at 96F temperature, while head is at 101-102F continuously. Is that any possibility of cerebral malaria..?? Please help me.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern.
Discussion:- If this is the confirmed Falciparum malaria then "Artimisinin+Lumefantrine" with "Sulfadoxine with Pyrimethamine would be enough, if this is not the resistance case then result would be good and cure rate will be satisfactory, in case of resistance case "Quinine sulphate" can be tired, to rule out the possibility of cerebral malaria clinical examination is must, although it may not be cerebral malaria.
Meditation:- Anti-malarial drugs as discussed above.
Advise:- Hydration need to be taken care, endocrine function need to be examined, differential diagnosis is matter of concern.
Comment:- Multiple drug with same group is highly questionable in malaria.
Hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
