Is Headache And Muffled Ear Normal After A Eustachian Tube Drainage?

Doctor, I was prescribed with Augmentin 7 days ago from sinus infection and ear infection.
I'm having headaches and my my one ear still is muffled in hearing from drainage in eustachian tube.
Is this just part of the process or should I visit my doctor again?
Thanks.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have blockage of eustachian tube in ears and yes headache and muffled ear normal after a eustachian tube drainage. Well there can be many reasons for eustachian tube dysfunction like upper respiratory tract infection, ear infection and post nasal drip. I would suggest you to take medication Vozet as that is an antiallergic medication and take antibiotic along with this. Take steam twice a day to relieve the congestion. Do warm saline gargles. Apply dry hot compresses to external ear. Consult ENT specialist again to rule out causes like ear infection . Doctor may prescribe mucolytic agent , decongestant and antibiotics . Avoid cold carbonated beverages and oily, sharp and spicy food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
