Is Hair Transplant For Male Pattern Baldness Effective?

Hi, I am a 23 year old male, weighing 61 Kgs. I have male pattern baldness already at this age. My hairline has receeded, and a typical empty circle path is forming at the back of my head. The reasons for me balding may be stress, very bad diet, skipping meals, smoking (i am taking measures to quit). I ve undergone several treatments mostly dietry, to help gain hair but with not much progress. I have now boiled down to hair transplant. I thought it would be wise to get an independant view on this, as each doctor I ve been to are trying to lure me into doing the treatment at their clinic. As I guess there is a lot of money involved, the doctors here are more concerned about how much they will earn rather than the patient s health. So HealthCare Magic, can you please suggest a good clinic/hospital to do my hair transplant (anywhere in India, preferably in the south), as I understand hair transplant is most effective and best when done by a good and experienced surgeon? Does it hurt? How long does it take to heal (the time when no one will ever know that I had a hair transplant done)? Please respond at your earliest convenience. Thanks, Anonymous

Dr. Muhammad M. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting me at virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

I appreciate the details you gave. I will rather suggest you to get your hair fall assessed and get degree of hair fall numbered 1,2,3,4,5... If you may go to a nearest hair club, that's good. Or send me some details through a direct question and I will be more than happy to solve your baldness issue.
I need pictures of your head taken from all angles all around to assess the advancement of baldness, hair pattern and hair line, which pattern of implantation will suit according to your personality and head shape, your scalp condition, your donor area and health of your hair follicles etc just to name some assessments. And I need your complete blood count and Serum testosterone levels.
Sometimes I suggest medicines and topical sprays to my patients, based on the individual case, and it works best with my treatment regimen.

You look more concerned about surgery. So there are two types, both depends on individual case. A doctor can suggest which one suits you after all the above required documents in hand, and discussing the treatment expenses with the patient.

I want to throw some light on two methods of surgeries available for you based on your scenario which I can surely tell you once I have the required documents from you.
One is FUE in which we remove hair follicles one-by-one directly from the your scalp, is what differentiates the FUE hair transplant from a traditional Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) that is the 2nd method, where the donor hair is removed from the scalp in one thin, long strip and then subsequently dissected into individual follicular units using a stereo-microscope.

No it doesn't hurt at all. Surgeon numb your scalp first. You feel only first Stick of the needle and that's it. Nothing afterwards. You may feel slight numbness upto a few weeks afterwards, that's good for you to heal.

In 6 months and on, no one can recognize you are transplanted hair. Your barber gets deceived too. Its based on the feedback my patients give me in daily practice.

Hope I answered all of your questions. In future, If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile. You can also attach Lab reports and pictures directly from the question window, or by emailing it to attachments@healthcaremagic.com with the Subject as, Attention: Dr. Muhammad Hanif, and the lab reports and images will directly reach my inbox for review.

May you get very well soon and have a wonderful time ahead. Please don't forget to give your valuable positive feedback and five star rating, to help me assist you in a better way in future too. Please, write a review about your experience with me, after you close this discussion.
Regards!
