Is Haemoglobin Enhancing Medicines Good For Anaemia?

respected madam,
My wife is suffering from severe anaemia, and she is currently taking some haemoglobin enhancing tonics and some iron boosting tablets with a haemoglobin level of (6), inspite of all these medications she is having pain in the stomach and constant pain radiating from the hip to the knee.
So can you please suggest some medical remedies and diet which she shoud follow.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Anemia is caused by decrease in hemoglobin levels.
Anemia can occur due to many causes.
Iron deficiency, vitamin B12 & folic acid are the dietary deficiency states.
Blood loss, hemolytic anemia, decreased production of hemoglobin are other causes.
First the cause of anemia has to be found out and thereafter treatment.
However, since you have been prescribed iron supplements, it is likely that you are suffering from iron deficiency anemia.
Iron supplements should be taken for atleast three months.
Three months are required for replenishment of the iron stores.
Thereafter, the hemoglobin should be re-checked.
If the hemoglobin level is within normal limits, iron can be stopped else it has to be continued for longer period.
iron rich dietary items should be taken like green leafy vegetables and food of animal origin.

Thanks and take care
