Is Giving Advent Syrup Safe For Recurrent Fever And Cold In Infant?

My child is 8 months old and is getting fever every 10hours and once provided the dolo drops it reduces, he is also having chest cold. doctor advised to give Advent syrup i am fearing because two months ago he had urine infection and I was giving ZIFI to him for the same just curious to know if these are anywere related and need advsie how to take it up further.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of recurrent fever and cold despite giving Advent syrup which is due to impaired and reduced immunity of child. I seems to be due to respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry about it. Give your child paracetamol and along with that do tepid sponging in between depending on intensity of fever. Give child diet rich in multivitamins. Avoid giving any cold beverages and intake of outside food. Visit pediatrician to find out the cause of fever after thorough investigation. If required request your pediatrician for any lab tests which may be required and start treatment as per that. You can give Crocin as well every 4-6 hrly.
