Is Exposure To Skunk Odour Toxic For Children?

My daughter has 3 dogs who ran into to house after being sprayed by skunk. They rolled on carpet last night. After several baths the house still smells strongly of skunk. My daughter and 2 grand children came over today. They all smell like skunk. Children age 2 and 3. She just called and still can t get smell out and can even taste it now. Is the odor toxic for them to be breathing?

Hi, a direct spray by skunk is toxic which may cause irritation and blindness. However, since in your case the spray was on dogs who came and rolled on your carpet, chances of only irritation of skin are there and absolutely no chances of blindness. Skunk spray have a very peculiar odour which can be picked by human nose at half mile. I think that you should not worry about this. Take care.
