Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms excessive mucous production after
tonsillectomy is not an abnormal finding as it is due to irritation, inflammation and swelling at the surgical site..
The more mucous production is also felt when there is difficulty in swallowing and the patient feels that there is excess production..
Nothing to worry about it as it is a normal finding after Tonsillectiomy and it will gradually resolve once the inflammation subside.
You can consult your treating surgeon and get evaluated and he can use a suction machine to remove excess of mucous to ease the discomfort..
You can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like
Ibuprofen for reducing pain and inflammation.
Keep well hydrated by taking ample of water.
Take a soft and cool diet..
In case if the excessive mucous does not subside even after 7 days more consult your treating surgeon and get evaluated for any sprouting infection at the surgical site..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
