Is Excessive Greenish Nasal Drainage Normal After Tonsilectomy And Adenoidectomy?

Hi my 12year old son just had his tonsils and aednoids removed due to sleep apnea. He is having a lot of nasal drainage we have gone thru 2 boxes of Kleenex but I noticed his snot is a greenish color. Is this normal part of healing or should I contact doctor? They have called in a nasal spray for him to help the congestion. Thanks

Hi

Welcome in HCM.

I have gone through your query regarding greenish discharge from nose after adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy operation, Though your child is already on treatment but greenish discharge from nose indicates bacterial infection in nose. There may be associated sinusitis.

It will be better to consult your surgeon for this discharge also.

Thanks for consulting HCM.
