Is Epilepsy Curable?

MY DAUGHTER ,23 ,SUDDENLY STARTED EPILEPSY IN 2013 OCTOBER without any previous history. the epilepsy attack comes only during night or early mornings while she is asleep. Starts with unnatural shirk or lound sound like wailing .it lasts 15 to 40 seconds with saliva coming out. Then she goes back to sleep with snoring. In the morning she has no clue if she had suffered . So far she had 7 epilepsy attacks or seizure always in sleep (only one each every occassion) . two occasions it was on subsequent nights. HER EEG, MRI CONTRAST reports and thyroid test were all normal in October 2013 after first occurrence. I do not have reports with me right now. ALSO PLS TELL THE CHARGES FIRST BEFORE ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS. I HAVE TO SEE IF I CAN AFFORD THAT. THIS IS IMPORTANT PLS. I want to know if it is curable? duration of the treatment and its side effects? can a person manage without treatment? and will it affect her studies , job career etc in future or normal or married life etc

General Surgeon 's  Response
Respected madam , hi I evaluated your query thoroughly.
@Your daughter is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder taking her
back to any unknown childhood trauma giving rise to these episodes in
context of normal EEG, MRI reports.
@Treatment is absolutely given by expert Psychiatrist in form of certain
anxiety relieving medicines, detailed counselling sessions to try to locate
the cause in relation to childhood trauma and eliminating it.
@A person can manage without treatment also for which relatives have to
work as Psychiatrist job and do detail stress relieving sessions along with
other care.
@ Per se epileptic episodes don`t affect her studies or job career if you
make herself much confident to that level from inside , for married life I
would suggest to inform partner in advance before marriage for the same
so then no later issues occur if he is understanding enough no issues ever
take place.
Now comes what is your role at home as Parents :
*Foremost thing is make your minds clear that your daughter is not
suffering from any major disorders , many in no. of millions have this.
*It`s duration is not certain till how much time it lasts nor there are
definitive measures to cure it for life.
*For prevention you have to build up her Immunity of Mind by
- constant regular basis Deep Breathing Exercises with YOGA daily for 30
min. which shows results at longterm basis not transiently.
- manage that she takes 8 hours sound sleep .
- avoid any type of tobacco / alcohol / abuse substances / sleeping pills
at all in every circumstances.
- keep her more engaged in her likely activities.
- maintain her hydration , BP , Blood sugar levels.
- refrain her from any internet work or computer work or chating before
at least 1 hour from the sleep and till 1 hour after waking.
- try to do counselling with her ( as consultant does in their clinics to find
out any past relation with childhood trauma but it`s very difficult but not
impossible by you also ) looking in her eyes deeply trying to convey her
you are just controlling her subcouncious mind and trying to ask what
her subcouncious mind is suffering from.
- avoid excess fasting which exacerbate the attacks.
- avoid too much viewing of horror shows / thriller movies.
- figure out some issue which she is not in a position to convey you but
handling from inside with fear and stress.
* When there is attack of Epilepsy :
- Allow her to sleep straight lying down as she can breath comfortably,
check there are no tight inner wears distressing her from breathing .
- Keep surrounding clear to let her breath adequately and see there is
proper air circulation .
- See that she doesn`t get injured through nearby objects by fall.
- Don`t pressurise her by asking annoying questions after the episode
that you know what had happened to you ?
- Don`t give anything to drink or eat by mouth as there are high chances
of aspiration during the episode.
- Contact ER if episode more than 4-5 min. and getting worse if at all.
Hope I am almost there to fix your query in all relevant aspects.
