Is Enlarged Tonsils And Adenoids Causing Sleep Apnea In A Child?

My son ped doctor diagnosed my 5 year old with enlarged tonsils and adenoids. He is following up with an ent doctor Friday. He has really bad sleep apnea as a result and stops breathing at night. I feel the ent doctor will want to remove them. Any advise you have will be helpful until surgery. Does salt water help?
