Is Elevated Blood Pressure In A Adolescent A Matter Of Concern?

I am 19 years old, 6' tall and 250 lbs. I have an average blood pressure of 150/90. I do not smoke, I only drink once a week on average and have around 4 drinks, eat reasonably healthy, but do not exercise often. Am I at high risk of any medical problems?

Yes elevated blood pressure in a adolescent is harmful to body. It will cause damage to heart, kidneys & other vital organs if left untreated. Actually Your blood pressure reading of 150/90 mm Hg at age of just 19 years is high.
As you are obese or over weight, reduction in weight can help to reduce your blood pressure. You should start light exercising like walking, cycling for half an hour daily. You should decrease salt intake & decrease intake of alcohol. Caffeine containing drinks such as coffee, cola, etc should be reduced to maximum 2 cups per day.
If your blood pressure doesn't reduce with exercise & weight loss, You should consult a physician, for starting a Blood pressure lowering medicine.
