Is Driving Advisable For Person With SPS Epilepsy?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...hi can i drive with sps epilepsy ive had no blackouts only suffer from occasanal dejavu and depression my gp thought it was depression for 13 years so my epilepsy must not be bad

Only the doctor treating you for your epilepsy really can say whether or not you may drive. However, in general it is NEVER A GOOD IDEA to be driving with ANY FORM of epilepsy unless it can be known and documented through records that the doctor and patient keep that you are:

1. Seizure and symptom free for a minimum of 6 consecutive months
2. Compliant with taking your medication according to doctor's orders and go to all your appointments for your checkups as well as getting your lab tests performed which show (depending on the drug) that your blood levels are therapeutic.

Then, it is considered safe (and legal in MOST states in the U.S.) to be driving a car or other vehicle related to work/recreational activities.
