Is Developed BPPV Post Upper Teeth Extraction A Cause For Concern?

I had all my upper teeth extracted 8 days ago and on the third day I developed BPPV. I am familiar with this problem after having helped my mother and her sister through it. I am doing exercises that have helped my staggering and pulling to one side but still feel very light-headed. Will this pass or should I see my doctor?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain BPPV or BENIGN PEROXYSMAL POSITIONAL VERTIGO is a disorder of inner ear and it occurs when the calicified structures present inside the ear stop their movement in a particular direction which is responsible for balance of the body and the negative message goes to brain and causes vertigo..
It is caused commonly due to infection and inflammation of the inner ear..
As far as the extraction is concerned there is a possibility that the vertigo episodes you are getting can be due to side effect of some medicine that you are taking post extraction but in case if it is not due to it and is BPPV then you should consult an ENT expert and get evaluated..
Extractions does not lead to BPPV so it is not exactly associated to it and you need an expert assistance for relief..

Hope this information helps..
