Is Decreased Hormone Level Suggestive Of A Successful Abortion?

My partner just got an in clinic abortion recently 3 days ago and they had to do the procedure twice. The doctor was pretty sure they got everything but wants her to come back 4 days later to get bloodwork to check if her hormone levels dropped. Is this a way of telling that the abortion was complete if the hormones drop? What does it drop down to so we know the abortion is complete?

dropping of hormone level indicates that pregnancy is not live, products may be inside or may be evacuated. Post termination hormones usually indicated when there is abnormal pregnancy e.g. Vesicular mole, where one is worried of developing Choriyocarcinoma in some patients.
