Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Constipation Related To Gall Bladder Removal Six Months Ago?
my husband had two bouts with c-diff and a year later had an emergency gall bladder removal because of gangrene, six months after that he is troubled with constipation--never before. He has always had great bowel movements daily. Is there a connection? that is my correct e-mail
I am so sorry to hear about this constipation. It is very unlikely that this constipation has been caused by the gall bladder removal. We often have difficulties with diarrhea and not constipation after this surgery.
I will suggest that you take a look at your diet and drugs because these are the most common causes of constipation. Eat enough vegetables, fruits, drink much water, exercise often and increase your fiber intake to help relieve this. If the symptoms should persist, I will suggest that you get evaluated fully for this by your primary care physician.
I hope this helps and provides some more information for you to act on. Feel free o ask for clarification an more information if need be. I wish you well and thank you so much for using our services. Dr. Ditah, MD.
