Is Constant Tiredness In A Child A Symptom Of Anemia?
My 5 year old started cutting teeth in dec. He was feverish and tired and cranky. He had one day were he was vomiting. Since then, he has been very pale, with dark circles under his eyes. The teachers are worried because he seems very tired. He goes to bed at 8 and sleeps til 7am. He has also been whiny and short tempered. We are working on getting him insured. Could he be low on iron?

Hi,
From history it seems that he might be having iron deficiency anemia giving rise tiredness, dark circles around eyes and irritated.
Common cause of having anemia at this age is might be due to worm infestation.
Having this infection might produce cutting tooth, stomach pain.
Go for,
stool test for ova and cyst,
Hemoglobin estimation.
After report go for treatment after consulting your doctor.
Give him high protien nourishing food.
Ok and take care.
